The add-on itself contains a new area with a lot of story content and collectibles, turning into a huge, rich and worthwhile adventure. This edition had and still has technical problems – after all, it is a console port. However, the developers tried, and while playing, I only had fun. The first thing you can see even before launch is the process of preliminary compilation of shaders. Yes, this is no longer a novelty: similar things have been seen in many demanding games of the last two-three-four years. But here this process takes an impressive 10-25 minutes, depending on the power of your PC.

Smoothing in cutscenes on the engine still sometimes fails. This is especially noticeable in the characters’ conversations: “ladders” are clearly visible on Aloy’s cheeks and hair, and the depth of focus works very poorly on the hair. Experts from Digital Foundry recommend the following graphics settings:

• maximum model quality,
• 16x anisotropic filtering,
• high shadow quality,
• high cloud quality,
• medium reflection quality and TAA anti-aliasing,
• enabled intelligence of all movements on medium ember.

Dynamic resolution is not recommended – it significantly reduces the clarity of the picture. It is definitely worth updating the video card driver to the latest version.

As for the picture quality, the PC version is superior to the console version in some aspects . First of all, this concerns the removal of the frame rate limitation, improving the quality of shadow rendering and reflections in the water. The game received support for native 4K resolution and unlimited frame rate. It is worth remembering that on the same console the game… Rendered images in a lower resolution, and then stretched them to the declared 4K. The frame rate did not rise above 30 frames per second. It also became possible to play on ultra-wide monitors of 21:9 and 32:9 formats – the console version supported only 16:9 in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.

Game plot

Our civilization ceased to exist, and the planet belongs to machines. Most animals died out, and humanity was thrown in its development almost to the origins. People live in small, isolated communities, which affects the level of their development. Someone has already figured out how to smelt metal, someone has mastered bricklaying, but in general, the exact sciences are forgotten, and technical skills are almost lost.

Aloy, the main character of the game, is not at all lucky. She was born into the warlike Nora tribe, whose representatives have barely mastered spears and arrows. Aloy didn’t know her parents – she was exiled from the tribe as a baby for unknown reasons and given into the care of another outcast, Rost. The only chance to return to the tribe and learn the truth about her relatives is to successfully pass the initiation rite, for which the girl has been preparing her entire life in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. Together with Aloy, we will have to collect information bit by bit about how it happened that the Earth literally “rebooted”, and people were again thrown back to a primitive way of existence.

The plot is very sensitive to spoilers, so it will be more interesting to look for the solution to all the mysteries – both past and present – on your own. You won’t be able to guess the ending, because there are two of them: one closes the questions of the present time in which Aloy lives, and the other completely explains the reasons for the death of the technological civilization of the past. Guerrilla knows how to twist the intrigue without putting pianos in the bushes of the local world. By the end of the game, we will most likely have a clear picture in our heads of both what is happening directly in the game and what happened in the past in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. We will get answers to all the questions: we will learn where the machines came from, why they are needed at all and why they are exactly the way they are; we will understand why almost nothing remains of the ancestral civilization, and we will find out the truth about the origin of Aloy herself.

Plot flaws

The main plot is presented in beautifully staged cutscenes. However, an attentive player will find many audio diaries and recordings that shed light on the events of the last days of the forerunners. To complete the game, you are not required to visit all existing cities and towns, discover all areas of the map and climb all the mountain peaks. You do this voluntarily, because you really want to. Exploring the environment is seriously addictive in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.

Tasks

Secondly, there are not too many side quests, and you usually come across them completely by accident, turning away from the main route. The tasks are not particularly original: kill bandits, find a missing person, collect 10 items – everything is as usual. But you won’t be able to calmly stroll through the local streets and fields in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. The main character’s world is inhabited not only by people, but also by robots that visually resemble animals. Some of the inhabitants are neutral towards you, but most of the local fauna will probably try to kill you. So you have to travel fully armed.

Machines

Any machine poses a serious danger at any stage of the game, so rushing into battle headlong is not the best option. The developers say that each mechanical animal in the game was thought out and created for about nine months. Each mechanical enemy is unique, it performs a certain function in the world, and therefore its appearance and behavior are interconnected. The first meeting with a new type of machine is the most interesting in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. You do not yet know what kind of creature is in front of you and what it is capable of. You watch it, examine the armored hull, choose the moment to attack, and so on.

This task is greatly facilitated by the “Visor” – a device from the distant past. It scans the environment, objects and enemies, showing their vulnerabilities. These weak points are not just conventional cracks in the armor placed by lazy designers, but important components of the “organism” of the machine itself. The visor, which works like a “witcher’s senses”, not only helps to read tracks, but also suggests…

Tactical Destruction of Enemies: Weaknesses of Machines

Choosing the right ammunition can make your life much easier in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. By depriving your enemy of one of their key parts, you can eliminate their advantage: for example, if you shoot off a mechanical bull’s horns, they will lose the ability to attack in close combat. By breaking an enemy’s cooling element, you can fill it with coolant, making them an easy target, or even immobilizing them. In some cases, you can even intercept the enemy’s weapon, pick it up, and use it against them. However, all this is not easy to do, especially if you are playing on the highest difficulty.

Robots

Robots are incredibly dangerous opponents. They are monstrously strong, and Aloy, despite her outstanding physical fitness, remains fragile in battle and rarely withstands more than two or three blows. Any mistake and the attack plan ends with thousands of arrows fired, and the armored carcass of the local cyber-behemoth leads to an untimely rest at the nearest stream (or rather, to the loading screen).

In turn, Aloy can counter enemies with cunning, speed and a rich arsenal. She can tie enemies with ropes, preventing them from moving, set traps and tripwires with different types of damage, throw grenades at opponents in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. At high difficulty levels, you have to plan battles, prepare for them and use your entire arsenal. Each part of the machine has to be opened with separate types of ammunition. For example, to get to the robot’s core, vulnerable to fire, you first need to break its armor with armor-piercing arrows. This is easier to do if you lure the enemy into a pre-prepared tripwire. When Aloy catches enough rabbits and creates the largest ammo bag, she will have access to 20 types of ammunition in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.

Weapons and crafting

Each weapon has several types of ammunition: three types of arrows for each of the three types of bows, bombs for the sling, three types of tripwires for the thread thrower. However, since leveling goes in a chain, you have to take useless skills to get to the right ones.

But they compensate for their qualitative shortcomings with quantitative superiority: it is worth touching one, as a good ten of the same will come running to the noise. That is why the bandit camps, which are better protected than fortresses, turn into a platform for stealth action in the spirit of Hitman. It turns out to be a good game, especially if you don’t skimp on the hidden skills branch and get yourself a camouflage outfit. Separately, it is worth noting the fresh look at the “towers”, which many are already pretty tired of. Here they are made in the form of long-necked robots, and you still need to get to them in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. Having climbed onto the “living tower” and climbed it, you can even ride a little and admire the surrounding beauty. In general, this is an excellent rethinking of the hackneyed mechanics.

The main voice actors are well chosen, their performance conveys the emotions of the original, including crying, screaming and other important nuances. Aloy’s voice is simply amazing! I liked it so much that I would gladly shoot an interesting interview with the actress who voiced her. As for the music and sound effects, they are made at a high level of quality in Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. Everything sounds as it should sound in real life – be it the noise of a flock of bats, the heroine’s breathing, the roar of mechanical dinosaurs or the stomping of metal paws.

The game soundtrack emotionally emphasizes everything that is happening. Atmospheric motives dynamically change depending on the situation: intense battles are accompanied by powerful, rhythmic music, and in calm moments melodic and relaxing compositions sound. All this, including sound effects, creates an exciting musical experience that perfectly complements the visual part of the game. Overall, the game is a masterpiece and it fully deserves the popularity it received in 2017. Everyone is strongly recommended to play it!
