Lastly, the addition of a set piece coach and a dedicated coaching attribute for set pieces is a welcome evolution. It’s surprising this wasn’t implemented sooner, as coaching free kicks and corner routines has always been integral to the sport. In today’s data-driven environment, clubs are increasingly focusing on this specialized knowledge.

Along with hiring set piece coaches, there’s an improved routine creator that allows for more intricate planning. These specialists can enhance the effectiveness of dead-ball situations, potentially adding crucial goals (or preventing them) throughout the season. While it may not be a game-changing feature, it’s a thoughtful addition that boosts the simulation’s realism.

Even with its impressive features, this series still faces some persistent challenges that can make it tough for newcomers. The amount of information can be daunting, and having someone to guide you through the early stages can really help. Unfortunately, that’s not always an option. The tutorials cover the basics reasonably well, but navigating through the numerous menus and options can be a bit overwhelming. It’s not that the user interface is poorly designed; in fact, it’s quite intuitive. It’s just that there’s a lot to take in.

Another issue that comes up is the absence of licensed league names, club names, logos, and other branding elements. Securing these licenses is a complex and costly process, involving negotiations that aren’t always straightforward. While some teams have individual agreements, it can be inconsistent. Playing without official logos and player images doesn’t ruin the experience, but it does take away a bit of the fun. Fortunately, the community has stepped in with downloadable packs that help fill those gaps.
