Rural America may not be as exotic or exciting a playground as a tropical island or remote mountains, but the open-world map of fictional Hope County, Montana is done in true Ubisoft style. There’s so much to discover and so much going on at any given time that it’s easy to get distracted from the mission at hand – and that’s not a bad thing.

Gamers love a game with a lot going on. Mountains, valleys, plains, forests, rivers, lakes and caves make this world a place where there is never a dull moment. The landscapes and characters aren’t as impressive as, say, Assassin’s Creed Origins, but it’s a great-looking game and the Far Cry formula is still compelling.

Objectives and main characters in Far Cry 5

There is a certain amount of monotony in the game. The objectives you have to complete, the weapons available, and those supernatural dream sequences are very reminiscent of Far Cry 3. However, there are still plenty of surprises in these areas. The brutal combat is still a lot of fun, but Far Cry 5 doesn’t feel like a revelation. Some players want to destroy all the paths that lead to standard gameplay, but betrayals and unexpected twists keep the game interesting.

The main villain this time around is a fanatic leader named Joseph Seed. He’s a respectable threat, but his acts of terror didn’t leave the same impression on me as Vaas Montenegro or Peggy in previous games. He doesn’t have any particularly memorable lines, and his motives – a desire to end the world – remain unclear. However, his story culminates in a memorable finale, making this open-world adventure worth completing.

However, for the first time in the Far Cry series, the player can choose between a male or female protagonist and make minor changes to their appearance. Different Specialists

There are nine different specialists to hire, offering air support, sniper cover, or even animal companions. It’s a great way to customize the gameplay and create fun, more fatalities.

That said, there are now far more flying options in the game than in Far Cry 3 and 4. Hope County is full of planes and helicopters, and it’s fun to book a chopper to take in the beautiful scenery on your way to your next objective.

The entire campaign can be played co-op with a real-life friend, which adds a whole new level of insanity to Far Cry 5. Two players generate twice the chaos, and roaming Montana with a partner leaving destruction in your wake is incredibly fun.
