## How to:
\n### \ud83d\uddbc\ufe0f Create a Mapart:
\n1. Launch the game with the mod installed
\n2. Join a world or server
\n3. Open the **Mapart editor** screen with the `Y` key *(this can be changed in the settings)*
\n4. Use the user-friendly GUI to create some cool maparts<\/p>\n
### \ud83c\udfae Create actual maps from a mapart:
\nMapart Helper provides functionality for adjusting an image and converting it to .NBT files. Currently, there are only a few ways to use it to create maps in your world\/on your server:
\n– Use a specific client-side mod for schematics (e.g. Litematica) and use generated .NBT files. Make sure that schematic is placed correctly – northwestern edge of the mapart’s schematic (excluding th top row of auxiliary blocks) must be match the northwestern edge of the in-game map (`\/mart beams` might help a little with that). When you have set the schematic you can either start building it in survival or use “placing in the world” if you are a operator;
\n– Use a specific server-side mod\/plugin to create maps from a URL.<\/p>\n
If you are having difficulty with this step, I recommend looking for guides on creating mapparts \u2014 they should answer most of your questions. If not, I would be glad to help on my Discord.<\/p>\n
### \ud83c\udfa8 Use palette presets:
\nPalette presets let you quickly switch between different sets of blocks and colors used when creating maparts.
\nYou can manage them in the **Presets Editor** screen, accessible from the Mapart editor screen.<\/p>\n
Each preset is stored as a separate `.json` file inside
\n`{game root folder}\/config\/mapart-helper\/presets`.<\/p>\n
You can:
\n* **Create and edit presets** directly from the GUI.
\n* **Add presets manually** by placing `.json` files into the folder \u2014 this is also how
\nyou can share your presets with others.<\/p>\n
All presets are also listed in the `config\/mapart-helper\/palette_presets.json` file, which maps preset filenames
\nto their display names.
\nYou can use this file to quickly identify a specific preset and to safely change its filename.<\/p>\n
If you change any of these files or add new presets while playing the game, make sure to update the data in-game \u2014 either by pressing the
\n\u201cUpdate from files\u201d button in the Presets Editor, or by running `\/mart palette update`.<\/p>\n

## Commands
\nThe following commands can be used everywhere, including servers:
\n– `\/mart` \u2014 Shows a list of commands in the chat
\n– `\/mart save frame [filename]` \u2014 Saves the map’s image you are looking at to the `saved_maps` folder
\n– `\/mart save hand [filename]` \u2014 Saves the map’s image you are looking at to the `saved_maps` folder
\n– `\/mart save selection [filename]` \u2014 Saves the image from the selection area to the `saved_maps` folder
\n– `\/mart beams` \u2014 Toggles displaying the beams at the map areas’ north-western points
\n– `\/mart palette regenerate` \u2014 Regenerates blocks palette
\n– `\/mart palette update` \u2014 Updates palette and presets from config files<\/p>\n
There are also several miscellaneous singleplayer-only commands, almost for debugging or for some unique cases:
\n– `\/mart-creative palette give-map-palette` \u2014 Fills the holding filled map with the image of the complete palette
\n– `\/mart-creative palette place ` \u2014 Places all blocks from the generated blocks palette into the world

### Rebane’s MapartCraft
\nAs someone who builds maparts in survival, I have always used this great website for that purpose.
\nSo, of course, the main idea for this
\nmod was inspired by MapartCraft.
\nAs a novice modder, I decided to create a similar tool, but integrated directly into the game.<\/p>\n
Mapart Helper is an alternative that provides
\nin-game GUI for the same purposes, with some differences
\nand its own features.<\/p>\n
MapartCraft and Mapart Helper use different programming languages,
\nalgorithms, and logic. For this reason, the results may and will differ<\/u>,
\nespecially when it comes to image preprocessing.
\nPlease keep this in mind if you want to use both tools for the same mapart.<\/p>\n
