\nTo get AIBotChat running, **text-generation-webui is absolutely essential**. This open-source tool must be installed and running locally with the API enabled. Additionally, **a model must be loaded** in text-generation-webui for the AI to generate responses\u2014without a loaded model, the plugin won’t function.<\/p>\n
\n1. Install and start text-generation-webui with API support (e.g., `python server.py –api –listen`).
\n2. In text-generation-webui’s Character tab, create or edit a character. **In the character’s context, you can input specific information about your Minecraft server** (e.g., rules, commands, or custom lore) to tailor the AI’s responses.
\n3. Save the character and note its exact name.
\n4. Build and install the plugin JAR on your Spigot\/Paper server (Minecraft 1.20+, Java 17+).
\n5. In the plugin’s `config.yml`, set the `character` field to your saved character’s name.
