# Gathering Chunks: Chunk by Chunk, Ryvione’s Fork<\/p>\n

## About<\/p>\n
Start your Minecraft journey with a single chunk. Gathering Chunks transforms world generation into a strategic experience where you expand your world one chunk at a time, gathering resources and choosing your next foothold as you grow from a lone plot into a sprawling empire.<\/p>\n
## Why This Fork?<\/p>\n
The original Chunk by Chunk by **immortius** is an excellent mod that deserves to stay alive. With the upstream project appearing discontinued (last update over a year ago), this fork picks up the torch:<\/p>\n
– Keeps the mod updated for current Minecraft versions
\n– Currently supports **Fabric** and **NeoForge** on Minecraft **1.21.1 (NOT 1.21.11!!)**
\n– Future support planned for newer versions
\n– Forge will **not** be supported in this fork. For Forge 1.20.1, visit the official mod page<\/p>\n
## How to Play<\/p>\n
1. **Start small.** You begin with a single chunk in an otherwise empty world.
\n2. **Find chests.** Special chests are scattered around containing items needed to craft Chunk Spawners.
\n3. **Expand.** Place Chunk Spawners next to empty chunks and activate them to unlock new terrain.
\n4. **Progress.** Use World Cores, Forges, Scanners, and Menders to manage and automate your growing world.<\/p>\n
## Blocks and Items<\/p>\n
### Core Items<\/p>\n
**Chunk Spawner**
\nSpawns a chunk from the original world seed at a specific location. Place it adjacent to an empty chunk and interact with it to activate.<\/p>\n
**Unstable Chunk Spawner**
\nSpawns a completely random chunk. Same activation method as the standard Chunk Spawner.<\/p>\n
**Biome-Themed Spawners (Overworld)**
\nSpawn chunks matching a specific biome type. Available biomes: Forest, Badlands, Desert, Jungle, Mountain, Mushroom, Plains, Rocky, Savanna, Snow, Swamp, Cherry, Taiga, and Ice Spikes.<\/p>\n
**Biome-Themed Spawners (Nether)**
\nNether Wastes, Basalt Deltas, Crimson Forest, Warped Forest, and Soul Sand Valley.<\/p>\n
### Utility Blocks<\/p>\n
**World Core**
\nThe central crafting component, created by fusing four World Crystals. Can also be found in Bedrock Chests.<\/p>\n
**World Forge**
\nCrystallizes common materials like dirt and stone into World Fragments, and processes higher-tier materials using fuel.<\/p>\n
**World Scanner**
\nReveals ore and element concentrations in surrounding chunks, both spawned and unspawned. Requires fuel to operate.<\/p>\n
**World Mender**
\nAutomates chunk spawning by periodically applying Chunk Spawners stored inside it to the nearest empty chunk.<\/p>\n
**Chunk Engine**
\nIncreases your chunk limit or keeps your chunks loaded. Entirely optional.<\/p>\n
**Bedrock Chest**
\nA sealed chest found at the bottom of chunks. Opens only once most of the blocks above it have been cleared. The threshold is configurable.<\/p>\n
### Crafting Materials<\/p>\n
**World Fragment**
\nThe smallest unit of crystallized world essence.<\/p>\n
**World Shard**
\nFormed by fusing four World Fragments, either at a crafting table or in a World Forge.<\/p>\n
**World Crystal**
\nFormed by fusing four World Shards, either at a crafting table or in a World Forge.<\/p>\n
## Version Checking<\/p>\n
Starting from version 2.2.5 (Beta 3.4, Hotfix 2), the mod performs an automatic version check on launch to notify you of available updates.<\/p>\n
**What is sent:** Your current mod version number only.
\n**What is not sent:** No personal information, IP addresses, game data, or any other identifiable data.<\/p>\n
The entire update checking implementation is open source. You can audit it yourself by reviewing `UpdateChecker.java` in the GitHub repository. The code is straightforward and requires only basic programming knowledge to verify.<\/p>\n
