{"id":123951,"date":"2026-06-07T09:55:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T06:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vpesports.com\/minecraft\/mods\/portal-linking-compass\/"},"modified":"2026-06-07T09:55:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T06:55:16","slug":"portal-linking-compass","status":"publish","type":"mod","link":"https:\/\/vpesports.com\/minecraft\/mods\/portal-linking-compass\/","title":{"rendered":"Portal Linking Compass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p># Portal Linking Compass<\/p>\n<p>## Description:<\/p>\n<p>Introduces a compass that displays precise coordinates for constructing a corresponding portal in the other dimension to link them up perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>The mod must be installed on both client and server to be able to function properly.<br \/>\nAvailable on Fabric, Quilt and Forge:<br \/>\n&#8211; Modrinth<br \/>\n&#8211; CurseForge<\/p>\n<p>## Why this mod was created:<\/p>\n<p>The mod was originally created because I wanted to try and play the game without coordinates (reducedDebugInfo gamerule set to true).<\/p>\n<p>Almost everything in-game can be done without coordinates. Maps, compasses and lodestones (albeit a little expensive) are great tools for locating places.<\/p>\n<p>However, a few things aren&#8217;t possible without coordinates. Such as:<br \/>\n&#8211; Linking nether portals.<br \/>\n&#8211; Finding the coordinates to manipulate and generate an end gateway in the middle of the void.<br \/>\n&#8211; A bunch more things I haven&#8217;t thought of.<\/p>\n<p>This mod tackles at least the first problem and allows players to build proper nether hubs.<br \/>\nI thought I may as well publish the mod for other people like me.<\/p>\n<p>## How to install:<br \/>\n&#8211; If you&#8217;re on Fabric, make sure you have Fabric API installed.<br \/>\n&#8211; If you&#8217;re on Quilt, make sure you have QFAPI installed.<br \/>\n&#8211; Download JAR and put in your mods folder.<\/p>\n<p>## How to use:<\/p>\n<p>### Step 1:<br \/>\nCraft a portal linking compass using a crafting table.<br \/>\nThe recipe is unlocked after picking up a compass, and will become visible in the recipe book.<br \/>\nIt requires:<br \/>\n&#8211; 3 obsidian<br \/>\n&#8211; 1 compass<br \/>\n&#8211; 1 iron ingot<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n            <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300px\" src=\"https:\/\/files.chimerasmp.online\/assets\/images\/mods\/portal-linking-compass\/step1-updated.png\" alt=\"Crafting Recipe\" \/>\n         <\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>Note:\u00a0The crafting recipe of this compass for Minecraft versions 1.21.4 and prior used netherite ingots instead of iron ingots, since this mod can be used as an alternative to vanilla lodestones (In those versions, lodestones require netherite ingots to be crafted). Mojang updated the recipe of lodestones and replaced netherite ingots with iron ingots in the Minecraft 1.21.5 release, so I did the same for the recipe of this compass.<\/p>\n<p>### Step 2:<br \/>\n&#8211; Right-click a nether portal block with the compass.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n            <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300px\" src=\"https:\/\/files.chimerasmp.online\/assets\/images\/mods\/portal-linking-compass\/step2.jpg\" alt=\"Right-click Portal with compass\" \/>\n         <\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>&#8211; The compass should now point to nether portal block.<br \/>\n&#8211; Go to the nether, the compass should point to the exact coordinates where you can build the portal to link them up perfectly.<br \/>\n&#8211; This also works vice-versa.
