ESL One Birmingham Online: China kicked off again today with the first series of the playoffs which saw Invictus Gaming taking on PSG.LGD, with the loser dropping down to the lower bracket.
Just two days ago, PSG.LGD were able to come back from a one game deficit and destroy Invictus Gaming at the China Dota 2 Professional League Season 2 and become the championships of the event. Since then, iG were able to setup for a chance at revenge in the upper bracket of ESL One Birmingham Online: China and a win would put them into the upper bracket final.
Having been dismantled by LGD just a few days ago, iG were hoping to find their footing today as the two Chinese Dota 2 giants went head to head. Unfortunately for iG, the first game of the series would not see that happening as LGD secured a kill per minute in a 45-minute brawl. Although having a better draft in game two, iG still could not keep up with the pace of their opponent – especially Yang ‘Chalice’ Shenyi’s Ember Spirit.
LGD, once again, posted a kill per minute in the 43-minute beating as iG would fall to their fifth successive loss to the TI8 runner up.
For today, the China action at ESL One Birmingham Online is over, with PSG.LGD securing a spot in the upper bracket final and Invictus Gaming dropping to the lower bracket. Tomorrow we will see the second upper bracket playoff series between CDEC Gaming and Royal Never Give Up – with only one series per day.
