The 2020 Dota 2 Pro Circuit season kicked off earlier today as Group A begun at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor. All four teams from the group would play, but it was Geek Fam who made the best showing as the day started.

It was a fantastic best-of-three series to kick off the Minor as Geek Fam went up against Ninjas in Pyjamas – both teams having recently adjusted their mid lane player on their rosters. Game one seemed to be going the way of NiP as the latest addition, Jason ‘TANNER’ Connor Weedon’s Templar Assassin proved to be too strong in the early to mid-game period. However, even with everything going against them, the Southeast Asians fought back from nearly 10k net worth down – thanks to some clutch Rubick steals from Kenny ‘Xepher’ Deo and the game was quickly turned around.

With game one in the bag, the next was a full GF show as they took control and never let NiP have any openings. Karl ‘Karl’ Jayme, GF’s new mid-laner proved his brilliance on the Outworld Devourer as he pummeled through NiP’s lineup to end the game at 18-1-6 and help his team to a brilliant 2-0 start to the Minor.

Next up for Group A would be a series between Royal Never Give Up and Team Spirit and both teams would be trying to prove themselves early in the event. While RNG were lacking in games against any international opposition in recent times, Spirit were still up against a very strong opponent and it showed. RNG took complete control in game one with Xue ‘September’ Zhichuan’s Disruptor ripping through Spirit more than anyone else.

There was absolutely no change in the next game either as RNG showed their strength as they annihilated Team Spirit in only 17 minutes and took the series 2-0.

With that, the Asian teams dominate the group on the opening day of the Minor and now will get a break for a day before they return to play. Tomorrow we will see a huge series for Group A as Geek Fam will take on RNG for the first spot in the playoffs at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor. NiP and Spirit will also be back tomorrow as both teams will fight to avoid elimination.

Next up will be Group B action as we all turn our eyes to Nigma to see what they can do in Bukovel.
