Dota 2 Last Update: Patch 7.33c
The developers have released a global patch in Dota 2, in which most of the heroes and many items (including neutral ones) have been changed. In addition, Valve has significantly updated the map, economy, creeps and much more.

GENERAL CHANGES
Map Changes
- The map has been expanded in all four directions, and new routes and objects have been added to it
- Added Paired Portals – 2 interconnected portals in the corners of the map. Any player can move between them after 3 seconds of preparation.
- Removed Roshan’s lair from the river
- Added 2 Roshan lairs in opposite corners of the map. When day and night change, Roshan passes through the Dual Portal from one lair to another: during the day he lives on the side of Light, at night – on the side of Darkness. As it moves from lair to lair, Roshan gains +200 movement speed and passes through other creatures, knocking them back and dealing 200 magic damage to them, even through status immunity.
- Roshan’s current lair is marked on the mini-map
- Roshan no longer drops Aghanim’s Shard after a second death
- Now after the second death Roshan drops cheese
- Roshan now drops Aghanim’s Scepter if killed on the Light side, or Refresher Shard if killed on the Dark side after the third and subsequent deaths.
- Roshan health per minute increased from 115 to 130
- Roshan base armor increased from 20 to 30
- Added Tormentors – two mini-bosses behind complex lines, appearing at 20:00
- The Mauler has 1 health, 20 armor, 55% magic resistance, and a 2500 damage barrier that regenerates 100 every second. 250 gold per kill.
- The Maulers don’t attack or move, but 70% of the damage they take is reflected evenly to all heroes within 1200. The reflected damage becomes magical. Deals 200% damage to illusions.
- If the Torturer is destroyed, one of the allies will receive Aghanim’s Shard. The choice is made randomly between the two heroes with the lowest total value among those who do not yet have Aghanim’s Shard.
- If everyone has Aghanim’s Shard, then each hero gets 280 gold and 280 experience
- The Mauler respawns after 10 minutes. Each respawn increases Barrier Regeneration by 100 and Reflected Damage by 20%.
- Added two new base passes near the third complex lane towers. These passages lead to the Torturers’ spawn point, and can only be used by the owners of the base.
- Empower runes no longer repeat until all possible rune types have spawned, with the first rune of the next cycle being different from the last rune of the previous one
- Added a new Boost Rune: Shield Rune. Grants a barrier equal to 50% of the hero’s maximum health for 75 seconds.
- A new special rune has been added: the rune of wisdom. These runes spawn at 7:00 and every 7 minutes thereafter in two new spots along the edges of the map next to the second complex lane towers. By activating it, the hero gains 280 experience for every 7 minutes from the start of the game.
- Outposts no longer give experience
- Added two outposts on the edges of the map near the first towers in the easy lanes and Dual Portals
- Outposts no longer provide vision or reveal invisibility
- 8 Overseers have been added to the map. By right-clicking on a neutral Overseer, you will begin to turn it on. Turning on the Overseer lasts 1.5 seconds and can be interrupted. An active Overseer provides 800 AoE vision for 7 minutes, after which it will turn off and become neutral. Enemy heroes can right-click on the Overseer you have enabled to destroy it after 1.5 seconds. Overseers respawn 2 minutes after being destroyed.
- The Watchers are located in the middle of both main forests, next to Roshan’s Lairs, in the center of the triangles next to the Secret Shops, and near the Torturers.
- Added two lotus ponds at the edges of the map near the river. Every 3 minutes, one healing lotus appears in both ponds until their number reaches six. Approaching the pond and right-clicking on it, you will begin to collect one lotus per second. Each lotus can be eaten to restore 125 health and mana. Lotus eating cooldown – 5 seconds.
- 3 lotuses automatically combine into a larger lotus that restores 400 health and mana, and 2 larger lotuses combine into one huge lotus that restores 900 health and mana
- Both teams see the contents of both ponds
- Added 12 neutral creep camps along the new edges of the map. Most of them are tied to 4 named areas: Well, Graveyard, Statue and Mine. All creatures in these areas receive special buffs.
- Well: two difficult and one medium camp. They are located below the second tower of the light line of the forces of Light. Grants Magical Waters: +1.5 Mana Regen.
- Mine: two hard and one medium camp. They are located above the second tower of the Dire light lane. Grants Miner’s Zeal: +4 Health Regen.
- Statue: one ancient camp. It is located to the left of the complex line of Light forces, between the first and second towers. Gives the Statue Fortitude bonus: +2 Armor.
- Cemetery: one ancient camp. It is located to the right of the complex line of the forces of Darkness, between the first and second towers. Gives the Skeleton Strength bonus: +5 damage.
- The remaining four camps are one easy and one medium on each side between the new outposts and Twin Portals. They do not belong to any named territories.
Universal Heroes
- Added a new type of heroes: universal
- Universal Heroes do not have a Primary Attribute, but gain +0.6 Attack Damage per point of any Attribute
- Now in Captains Draft mode, 7 heroes of each type are randomly selected (there are 28 instead of 27)
- There are now 4 heroes offered in Single Draft mode, one of each type

Weakening the effects that incapacitate
- Reduced the duration of most effects that incapacitate the victim (see Item and Hero Changes for details)
Immunity to Effects
- Replaced Spell Immunity with Status Immunity
- Status Immunity differs from the previous mechanics in three ways: casting spells, protection from status effects, and damage reduction.
- Casting Abilities: Any ability can be applied to creatures that are immune to effects, even if they don’t pass through the immunity. In this case, both visual and gameplay effects of the ability will be imposed on the victim.
- Effect Protection: Normal debuffs do not affect the victim while they are immune to the effects, but if the immunity ends before the effect, it will affect the victim for the remainder of the time. The effects of abilities that pass through immunity affect the victim immediately.
- Damage Reduction: Immunity to effects increases magic resistance and grants full protection against pure and reflected damage, but has no effect on physical damage. The damage of abilities that pass through status immunity is not reduced. The following are all abilities that previously granted full immunity and their current magic resistance:
- Earth Warrior with Brewmaster, Clockwerk with talent, Dawnbreaker with Aghanim’s Shard, Elder Titan with Aghanim’s Scepter, Huskar with Life Break, Legion Commander with talent, Lion with Aghanim’s Shard, Marci with talent, and Pangolier with Rolling Thunder or Roll Up get + 50% Magic Resistance
- Juggernaut with Blade Fury and Lifestealer with Rage gain +80% Magic Resistance
- Grimstroke’s Dark Portrait Illusion has 95% Magic Resistance
- First of all, these changes affect the Black King Bar, so we will use it for further examples:
- Avatar: Applies a normal dispel on the wearer and grants immunity to effects. Grants +50% Magic Resistance and immunity to True and Reflected Damage. Protects the wearer from negative effects. Duration: 9/8/7/6 seconds.
- All abilities that pass through status immunity will affect and damage the wearer, ignoring the magic resistance bonus from BKB.
- If the immunity ends before the effect ends, it will affect the victim for the remainder of the time.
- Example 1: You have activated the Black King Bar. Jakiro applies Dual Breath on you (magic damage, does not pierce immunity). You will not be slowed, but you will take magic damage. It will be reduced by your magic resistance increased due to BKB.
- Example 2: You have activated the Black King Bar. Beastmaster applies Primal Roar on you (magic damage, pierces immunity). You will be stunned and take magic damage. It will be reduced by your magic resistance, but will ignore the bonus from applying BKB.
- Example 3: You have activated the Black King Bar. Silencer attacks you with Glaives of Wisdom (true damage, does not pierce immunity). You won’t take pure damage.
- Example 4: You have activated the Black King Bar. Bane applies Fiend’s Grip on you (true damage, pierces immunity). You will be stunned and take all true damage.
- Example 5: You activated the Black King Bar, but it will expire after one second. Someone casts Orchid Malevolence on you (does not pierce immunity). Silence will not affect you for the first second, but will trigger immediately after the effect of Black King Bar ends.
- Example 6: You have activated the Black King Bar and are using a scroll of teleportation. Vengeful Spirit casts a Magic Missile on you (magic damage, does not pierce immunity). You will not be stunned and the scroll of teleportation will not be interrupted, but you will receive magic damage. It will be reduced by your magic resistance increased due to BKB.
Other changes
- Changed the reward for killing creeps in lanes:
- Sword creep gold gain reduced from 1 to 0
- Gold gain per kill of super melee creep reduced from 1.5 to 0
- Creep-mage kill gold gain reduced from 6 to 3
- Super Creep Mage gold gain reduced from 6 to 3
- Changed the gold formula for helping
- Before: ( 30 + ( Total value of the victim * 0.038 )) / Number of heroes
- Now: 10 + (( 50 + ( Total value of the victim * 0.037 )) / Number of heroes )
- At night, all creatures gain +15 movement speed. The bonus for heroes is doubled, but is reduced to zero for 5 seconds if the hero attacked or was damaged by a player-controlled creature (similar to Tranquil Boots).
- Hero base health reduced from 200 to 120
- Health gain per point of strength increased from 20 to 22
- Each point of Intelligence now grants +0.1% base magic resistance
- Damage immunity now counts before all damage reductions and barriers (e.g. Aphotic Shield’s barrier health will not be reduced if the hero is immune to damage)
- Magic damage absorbed by barriers (such as Ember Spirit’s Pipe of Insight or Flame Guard) is now reduced by magic resistance first
- Barrier health is now displayed above the health bar in the UI
- Health bars now display barriers from the following items and abilities:
- Pipe of Insight: Barrier
- Pavise: Protect
- Abaddon: Aphotic Shield
- Ember Spirit: Flame Guard

- Mana cost reduction effects now only affect mana cost
- Fixed target now has no intelligence

- Effects from multiple uses do not stack.
- Maximum stock in the shop – 3 pieces (replenished every 120 seconds)
DIADEM – NEW ITEM

DISPERSER – NEW ITEM
- Crafted from Diffusal Blade (2500 gold), Demon Edge (2200 gold) and Recipe (800 gold). Total cost: 5700 gold.
- +20 Agility

- Passive: Manabreak. Each attack burns 40 mana of the enemy and deals 1 physical damage to them per point of mana burned.
- Active: Suppress. If used on an enemy, it will slow them down for 4 seconds. When cast on an ally, apply a normal dispel on them and speed up their movement by 100%. This ally cannot be slowed for 4 seconds. Cooldown: 15 seconds. Mana Cost: 75
- Both the slow and haste from the active ability are gradually reduced to zero over the duration
HARPOON – NEW ITEM
- Crafted from Echo Saber (2500 gold), Diadem (1000 gold) and Recipe (1000 gold). Total cost: 4500 gold.

- Active: Draw Forth. Fires a harpoon at the target enemy that pulls the user and target towards each other up to 35% of their original distance. If the wearer is in melee combat, pulls them and the target within attack range. The pulled creep dies instantly. Cast range: 700. Cooldown: 19 seconds.
- Passive: Echo Strike. Allows melee heroes to perform a double attack that reduces the target’s movement speed by 100% for 1 second.
PHYLACTERY – NEW ITEM
- Crafted from Diadem (1000 gold), Point Booster (1200 gold) and Recipe (200 gold). Total cost: 2400 gold.
- +7 to all attributes

- Passive: Empower Spell. The next ability that targets an enemy will deal an additional 125 damage and slow them by 50% separately. Duration: 1.2 seconds. Cooldown: 6 seconds.
- The passive effect does not trigger on spells that do not charge a Magic Stick (such as casting Hand of Midas) and does not stack with other sources of this effect

HEALING SALVE
- Now the amount in the shop is limited (at the beginning of the game 4 pieces, a maximum of 10 pieces, the stock is replenished every 120 seconds)
TANGO
- Now the amount in the shop is limited (at the beginning of the game 8 pieces, a maximum of 10 pieces, the stock is replenished every 120 seconds)
TOME OF KNOWLEDGE
- The item has been removed from the game.
DUST OF APPEARANCE
- Reveal ability changed. It now creates a 1050 radius around its cast point for 12 seconds, revealing invisible heroes and slowing them by 20%. Deals 25 damage to invisible units revealed by this item. The effect remains on enemies for 8 seconds after they leave the area of effect.
SENTRY WARD
- Shop maximum stock reduced from 10 to 8
- Shop replenish time increased from 70 to 80 seconds
SMOKE OF DECEIT
- Heroes affected by this item are now unable to use it for 2 seconds
RING OF HEALTH
- Cost reduced from 825 to 700
- Health regeneration bonus reduced from 6.5 to 5.25
VOID STONE
- Cost reduced from 825 to 700
- Mana regen bonus reduced from 2.25 to 1.75
CLOAK
- Cost increased from 500 to 800 gold
- Magic resistance bonus increased from 15% to 20%
HOOD OF DEFIANCE
- The item has been removed from the game.
ETERNAL SHROUD
- The recipe has been changed. Build no longer requires Hood of Defiance. Crafted from Cloak (800 gold), Ogre Ax (1000 gold), Ring of Health (700 gold) and Recipe (800 gold). The total cost is the same.
- Now grants +30% Magic Resistance, +12 Strength, and +7 Health Regen
- No longer has an active spell
- Now passively converts 25% of Magical or True Damage taken into Mana
- Magic resistance and passive effects from multiple Eternal Shrouds do not stack
PIPE OF INSIGHT
- The recipe has been changed. Crafted from Cloak (800 gold), Ring of Health (700 gold), Headdress (425 gold) and Recipe (1450 gold). Total cost decreased from 3475 to 3375 gold.
- Magic resistance bonus reduced from 30% to 25%
- Insight Aura magic resistance bonus reduced from 15% to 10%
- Barrier now stacks with other barriers that absorb magic damage (but not with the effect of the same ability)
SKULL BASHER
- Bash stun duration reduced from 1.5 to 1.2 seconds
ABYSSAL BLADE
- Recipe cost increased from 1550 to 1675 gold (total cost is the same)
- Overwhelm stun duration reduced from 2 to 1.6 seconds
- Bash stun duration reduced from 1.5 to 1.2 seconds
AETHER LENS
- Recipe cost increased from 650 to 775 gold (same total cost)
BLINK DAGGER
- Now the item does not just go on cooldown, but turns off for 3 seconds after the owner takes damage from Roshan or an enemy hero

- Arcane Blink no longer increases the duration of debuffs, nor does it reduce mana cost or cast delay

BLACK KING BAR
- Changed Avatar’s ability to apply a normal dispel on the wearer. Gives him status immunity, +50% magic resistance, and full protection against pure and reflected damage. Does not affect abilities that pierce status immunity.
- If the immunity ends before the debuff ends, then it will affect the victim for the remainder of the time.
BLADE MAIL
- Damage bonus reduced from 28 to 20
- Armor bonus increased from 6 to 7
ORCHID MALEVOLENCE
- The recipe has been changed. Crafted from Blitz Knuckles (1000 gold), Staff of Wizardry (1000 gold), Cornucopia (1200 gold) and Recipe (275 gold). The total cost is the same: 3475 gold.
- Now grants +6 Health Regen and +12 Intelligence
- Damage bonus reduced from 30 to 10

BLOOTHORN
- Recipe cost reduced from 925 to 825 gold (total cost is the same)
- Now grants +6.25 Health Regen

- Soul Rend no longer guarantees critical attack damage on the target (but still prevents you from missing)

CRIMSON GUARD
- Recipe cost increased from 800 to 925 gold (total cost is the same)

- We’ve reduced the number of Role Queue tokens granted when you lose an ‘all roles selected’ match. Now you’ll earn two tokens for a loss. (Winning still grants the full four tokens.) This change should help smooth out player behavior around Ranked Roles, where farming tokens sometimes takes precedence over playing an assigned role effectively.
- We removed Captains Mode from Ranked and cut All Random and All Random Deathmatch from unranked. Almost no one plays these modes and queue times easily exceed one hour.
- This update removes the legacy model editor. All vmdl files will now load in the new tool, and old models will be converted when you first load them in the tool. We will release a subsequent update to completely remove support for loading the old compiled format, so we encourage all workshop authors to load and convert their models to the new format and recompile them asap.
- We’ve removed support for the legacy “HoldAnimation” key from dynamic props. Custom games should either manually switch to the new “loop mode” key, or recompile their maps in order to automatically upgrade those properties.
