Donk will become the main star of CS?

Do you remember when we used to do nothing but read news headlines about how awesome s1mple was, the records he achieved, and so on? Now, the generation has changed, with ZyWOo at the top. However, lately, many people have been talking about a completely different prodigy. And we’re talking about Team Spirit player – donk!

Donk is the best player

Donk has been stealing the CS2 headlines for the past few months. Now, he has added the title of champion to his collection on the FACEIT platform, where he finished in first place at the end of the season.

Although the official FACEIT season ended yesterday, the Russian prodigy continues to push himself, surpassing the 4,800 ELO mark, a whopping 300 points ahead of his closest pursuers, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and British sniper Owen “smooya” Butterfield. Sitting at the top, donk currently leads the list of 125 players in the FACEIT Proving Grounds for February, where the winner will receive the lion’s share of the $100,000 prize pool.

All of the above only adds to the anticipation of the upcoming IEM tournament on January 31, as many will be paying attention to this young man, who will be making his debut at the event in Katowice, Poland, alongside Team Spirit. Spirit will kick off their campaign from the Play-In stage against the Apeks team. Donk, who just turned 17 last week and recently participated in his first top-level tournament (BetBoom Dacha), has become a topic of discussion and is expected to attract the most attention from CS2 fans.

Donk is the best BetBoom Dacha 2024

At BetBoom Dacha, donk stood out among everyone, showcasing an astonishing rating for a debut performance – 1.32 according to HLTV, and rightfully earned the tournament’s MVP award. However, the competition he will face in Poland this week is on a whole different level compared to his first professional appearance. He will be up against some of the best teams in the world – that is, if he and Spirit can first make it through the Play-In stage.

“Individual awards are just a byproduct of playing well as a team,” said donk, stating that his main goal is to start 2024 as strongly as he ended 2023.

In an interview with HLTV at BetBoom Dacha, donk mentioned that despite making such a sharp transition to the top-level competitive CS scene and completely changing his lifestyle by moving from his hometown of Tomsk to Belgrade (Spirit’s headquarters), he doesn’t feel any pressure on himself. Considering his performance this year, he appears quite confident on the path to achieving this goal. However, LAN tournaments are an entirely different ball game compared to online performances. We will see if donk and Spirit can do everything possible to at least break into the top 10 at IEM Katowice.
