FaZe Clan have officially confirmed that Marcelo “Coldzera” David has joined the team. The ex-MIBR star dons the FaZe jersey just in time for the team’s appearance at ESL One New York, where FaZe are in a group with Astralis, NRG Esports, and OpTic Gaming.

News of the move first broke a few days ago by Jarek “DeKay” Lewis, confirming a rumor that has been circling the CS:GO scene for some time now. One of the best fraggers in the world, Coldzera was expected to join a high-profile team after he wished to be benched, and later released, from MIBR.

Coldzera’s transfer perpetuates FaZe Clan’s image of being an amalgam of super stars, but it remains to be seen whether all this firepower can start bringing in results. The previous iteration featuring Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács and Finn “karrigan” Andersen was brought together to win Major titles, but despite several LAN wins, the closest the team got to a Major title was the grand finals of ELEAGUE Boston 2018, where FaZe lost 1-2 to Cloud9.

The first test of the Coldzera-powered FaZe Clan will be ESL New York, which starts later today and where FaZe plays OpTic Gaming in their opening match. Team Liquid and ENCE hail in as the favorites of the other group, promising for some stacked playoffs at the end of the week.
