The Kuala Lumpur Major qualifiers invites from earlier today were a good indicator that the teams who were spared from the open brackets hustle have their line-ups already sorted out despite not being officially announced.

Players and Dota 2 personalities have already started to question how the teams were decided, or why an unknown roster got invited over other competitors in the scene. In the CIS qualifiers, for example, Natus Vincere, Team Spirit, Team Empire or Vega Squadron, teams who already revealed their full line-ups were ignored completely, while the newly formed Team Odium received an invite.

Team Odium was announced a week ago as a personal project of Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk, who wants to start the season with a squad in which “he trusts and believes” as he explained on his Instagram page. His team attracted rather important players from the CIS scene, but until today the team had only four members. After PGL announced the invites, Odium revealed their fifth player, who is a fresh entry in the competitive field. The four well-known CIS players coming from Empire, Na’Vi and Vega will be carried by the young Ukrainian pub star Andrey “V-tune” Berebko.

Odium roster:

 – Andrey “V-tune” Berebko
 – Andrey “Ghostik” Kadyk (ex-Team Empire)
 – Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini (ex-Na’Vi)
 – Semion “CemaTheSlayer” Krivulya (ex-Vega Squadron)
 –  Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk (ex-Na’Vi)

V-Tune has no prior professional experience and he is not exactly at the top of the European leaderboards either. He is currently ranked 134 in Europe and his total earnings so far are $213, which come from a second place finish last year in December at a national Ukrainian league.

The Kuala Lumpur Major qualifiers will be V-tune’s first big test. The CIS region has two slots allocated for the event in Malaysia and the closed qualifiers are set to kick off on the 16th of September.
