‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

Daigo Umehara came out victorious at VSFighting this weekend. This was an important tournament for multiple reasons. It was the last premier before going into EVO 2018 so it was a great heat check for all of the top players that were in attendance. For Daigo himself, this is his first Premier victory in this season and more than that, he has completed his hit list of top players.

Since the beginning of the new season, Daigo Umehara has systematically been looking to take out the best players. Early on in the year, he focused on being able to defeat Tokido once Tokido proved himself to be the best player in the world by the end of 2017. After Infiltration beat Daigo at EVO Japan, Daigo shifted focus onto him and was able to defeat him in the subsequent tournaments. The final barrier was Fujimura who has come to be the best player in the world in the recent months. Daigo sent him to the loser’s bracket at ELeague and beat him in the finals here.

In defeating these three players, he has also improved his game in terms of aggression, zoning, and defense against all three players. Daigo’s Capcom Tour continues to be one of the most compelling stories as he continues to follow his road of improvement. He is now among the best players in the world and will be among the favorites for EVO 2018.
