And the last mode is survival, for which I returned to this game. With it, everything is not as colorful as I would like. In fact, they took the same world and, as far as I understood, things from the workshop, added parameters such as HP, the need for food, scattered four types of enemies (at least, I have not met others), as well as three types of peaceful creatures, put up buildings – and here you have a survival mode. There are, of course, interesting places to explore on the map, and mechanics that can be seen at sea, similar to gardening in Scrap Mechanic.

Graphics, Optimization and Sounds in Scrap Mechanic

As for the visual component of Scrap Mechanic, here we are greeted by pretty cute cartoon graphics with simple drawing styles. It is quite pleasant for the eyes, and this is good. Of course, the texture resolution is not ultra, but everything looks harmonious and good.

As for optimization, the FPS at high settings is kept at about 100. Micro freezes happen when the objects you have built are loaded. In general, I have seen worse optimized projects.

As for the sounds, the following can be said: they do not stand out in any way, with the exception of the annoying squeaks of bots, since there are at most three sound tracks for one robot, although it feels like there is only one. The slightest bit of atmosphere is present, and this is at least something, but Scrap Mechanic could have been done better.

Scrap Mechanic Modes: Creativity and Game Evaluation

The challenge mode, as it does not really captivate players. With creative and survival modes, things are not so clear. Creative is not just an ideal option, in which you can create almost anything you can think of. In addition to the tools in the game itself, there is also a workshop, where enthusiasts have created a bunch of mods – this simply unrealistically expands the already huge arsenal, and this, undoubtedly, makes the game cool.

Another thing is the survival mode in Scrap Mechanic. It caused mixed feelings. Because in a game where you can come up with so many things, enemies appeared. And this implies some kind of clever devices for killing them, players thought. But everything turned out to be much sadder. There are quite a few enemies, the only weapon for most of the sector is a hammer, which complicates looting and killing. Transport is also possible, but due to the peculiarities of the controls, it is better not to do this. Quite a large map, which is why the desire to build disappears. The character’s needs exist simply for show. We do not exclude that we did not understand something, but still, for me personally, it was not a very interesting world. Because the mechanics are more or less known, and the only new things for me were the locations, bots and mods.

They decided to make the game interesting, and in this regard, the mechanics deserve respect with a rating of 8/10. Not only is there a lot of stuff, but there is also a workshop from which you can modularly assemble cool things. Of course, not without disappointments, like the survival mode, but maybe someone will like it. We can consider that this mode in Scrap Mechanic is currently unbalanced and empty.

To enjoy Scrap Mechanic, you will need at least 8 GB of RAM and 15 GB of free disk space on your hard drive. The minimum graphics card you can use is an HD Graphics 520, but for a significantly improved experience, the developers highly recommend using a GeForce GTX 970. When it comes to the CPU, a Pentium D 915 is the absolute minimum requirement; however, if you aim to increase the settings and enjoy a much smoother and more engaging gameplay experience, it’s best to go for a Core i5-6600K or even a higher model.
