The regional qualifiers for the third Major in the 2018/19 Dota 2 Pro Circuit Season are coming to a close soon and the North American region had a host of amazing teams competing for 3 spots at the event. Last night saw 2 of those spots being filled as Evil Geniuses and J.Storm booked their places at DreamLeague Season 11.

After a slight stumble in their first series in the group stage of the qualifiers, which saw them losing to Jacky ‘EternalEnvy’ Mao’s Flying Penguins, EG were able to solidify to make it to the upper bracket of the playoffs. There they would face off against Forward Gaming where the victor would find themselves claiming a spot in Stockholm for the next Major. After getting stomped in the first game it seemed as though EG would have to fight from the lower bracket, but the team’s clear determination shone through as they swept through the next to games and took the series.

EG now set their sights on their battle at MDL Macau in a few weeks before they will attempt to take the DreamLeague Season 11 title.

Flying Penguins were a somewhat surprising entrant into the upper bracket of the playoffs after coming through from the 2nd Open Qualifiers. EE’s team managed to take down EG on day 1 and used that to springboard themselves into a series against a very well-known J.Storm squad. The first game of the series was a scrappy hour-long brawl as both teams secured kill-after-kill. It would J.Storm that came out ahead though, finding an easy game two victory and securing their spot at the Major.

The North American regional qualifiers come to a close in the coming hours with compLexity Gaming taking on Penguins and Team Team going up against FWD Gaming. The winners of these series will then battle it out for the last NA spot available at DreamLeague Season 11.
