OpenAI is back with a bang after a small break and will be taking on TI8 champions OG in San Francisco! The game will take place on the 13th of April in the Bay Area. If you wish to attend in person, a request can be sent to the OpenAI group here.
Other than just the game, there will be a demonstration of how the team thinks humans and AI will interact in the future. The event begins at 11 am and ends at 4:30 pm Pacific Time.
OpenAI created a lot of hype just before The International 2018, easily defeating Team Human which consisted of Blitz, Merlini, Fogged, Capitalist and Moonmeander. Even though Moonmeander was the only professional player from the stack, the other four are very good players. This was when the Dota world knew OpenAI meant business.
But then at TI8, Pain Gaming and a group of Chinese Dota 2 legends made short work of OpenAI, showing that even though it was good, there was still room for improvement. What will be intriguing to see is whether in the six months after TI, OpenAI Five has actually gotten any better. The same rules as before will apply, meaning only a select few heroes will be available for drafting. Blitz, Capitalist, ODPixel and Sheever will be present at the venue as well and the game will be broadcast on Twitch.
