Alongside the Patch 9.14 changes to League of Legends, the Teamfight Tactics mod has also received multiple adjustments. Among them are Twisted Fate coming in as the new champion, the introduction of Ranked Play and the power balance of many pieces.

“Many tier 3 champions felt underpowered and not worth picking up given their price, so we’re buffing a number of them to make them worth considering even at a single star,” RiotBeernana writes. “Conversely, many tier 4 champions have been nerfed as they were proving to be powerhouses sometimes even without the need for synergies or additional stars.”

Changes to PVE rounds

  • In the event that you do not get an item during a PvE round, one of the minions, monsters, or epic monsters will now drop gold instead.
  • Dragon and Elder Dragon no longer benefit from the Dragon Trait bonuses. All sorcery comps rejoice.

This is Riot’s solution towards mitigating the RNG from the PvE rounds and help out players who don’t luck out and get no item drops. The compensation is pure gold, though it might still not be enough. Items are among the most impactful features in the game, and getting gold is just not comparable. Valve’s Dota Underlords solves this problem by guaranteeing item drops from PvE rounds — which even come with the option to select which of three items you want — while TFT follows the established patterns of the original Dota 2 Auto Chess mod.

Balance changes

Elise is one of the champions that is getting hit the hardest in the new patch. She’s reduced from 2 gold to 1 gold, but pays the price for it across the board. She spawns fewer spiderlings, has less health and armor, and higher mana cost.

Elise
  • Cost: 2 ⇒ 1
  • Spiderlings now benefit from the Demon Origin effect
  • Mana cost: 75 ⇒ 100
  • Number of spiderlings: 2/3/4 ⇒ 1/2/4
  • Health: 500 ⇒ 450
  • Armor: 25 ⇒ 20

Tier 3 champions that are getting buffed include Evelynn (more HP and higher executed threshold); Gangplank (faster attack speed and applying on-hit effects); Poppy (higher armor and longer stun duration); and Veigar (lower mana cost and more damage), among others.

At the same time, some Tier 4 champions are getting nerfed so now Cho’gath will have less health and knock up for a shorter time; Gnar has less health and armor; and Sejuani stuns for shorter time.
