The International 2019 regional qualifiers offered only one spot for each region. Although 12 teams would secure their presence at the biggest tournament of the year via Dota Pro circuit points, the TI qualifiers were still a frightening spectre looming over most of those who didn’t have a good season.
This year each region was stacked and had more than one favorite to claim that one ticket to Shanghai, China. So, the last Minor of the season was somewhat regarded as the last train for teams like compLexity, Sirius, EHOME, Winstrike or Alliance. Given the importance of this last Minor on the circuit schedule, Valve even made an exception from the rule and allowed two teams to advance to the final Major.
For EHOME, a team who had a good start of the season, but fell off due to a series of unfortunate events that had a direct impact on their roster, the Minor in Kyiv finished in the group stage. The same fate awaited Sirius, compLexity, Mineski and Winstrike. From all these teams only Mineski managed to redeem themselves via TI qualifiers, but not before making a roster change.
SL ImbaTV Season 2 Minor was won by Ninjas in Pyjamas while Alliance, the runner up team, still got to travel to the EPICENTER Major and locked a spot for TI9 with their performance there. From the eight teams that played in the last minor of the season only three made it in the end to The International 2019: Alliance, Mineski and Team Anvorgesa, later on, signed by Infamous. For the rest of the participants, this was their last trip of the season.
