A user by the name of BetterFixThat has revealed a leaked copy of the Overwatch League’s new team names and logos. The Reddit user claims to have located these files within the Overwatch League API from within the companion application in his post.
The new teams will be joining the original 12 in the second season of the Overwatch League. The London Spitfire took home the title in the inaugural season when they defeated the Philadelphia Fusion in the grand finals at the Barclays Center in New York.
The new team names are as follows:
- Chengdu Hunters
- Hangzhou Spark
- Paris Eternal
- Toronto Defiant
- Washington Justice
- Atlanta Reign
- Guangzhou Charge
You can find the teams’ associated logos below along with a brief description of our interpretation of the logo.
The Atlanta Reign logo which had already been revealed appears to reflect a Phoenix and a crest showing royalty which works alongside the name Reign.
The Defiant is pretty straight forward with the T for Toronto helping to form the D for Defiant.
The Hangzhou Spark shows a pointed “gun” finger surround by what we would assume is lightning or a “spark.”
The Washington Justice stuck with a shield and the US national color scheme, relatively fitting for their location and name.
The Paris Eternal also stuck with some national pride as they chose the Gallic Rooster, a symbol of France worn by French national teams in football and rugby.
The Guangzhou Charge also chose to include their letters in a formation resulting in an image. Between the G & Z forms a lightning bolt signifying the Charge.
The Chengdu Hunters elected to use a similar color scheme to the Seoul Dynasty while electing to select a fierce looking Panda as their mascot and symbol.
