The hottest free agent of the 2019 off-season, AD Carry Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo will face its former teammates from Invictus Gaming for a spot in the LPL grand finals. On Friday, JackeyLove’s new home, Top Esports, steamrolled through Team WE 3-1 to advance to the semifinals, setting up a high-profile match-up against the 2018 world champions.
TES already boasted a formidable roster, housing one of, if not the best mid laner in the league, Zhuo “Knight” Ding, but upgraded significantly as they signed JackeyLove in early April. The acquisition came after multiple reports and rumors placed JackeyLove on route to several different organizations, including re-signing with Invictus Gaming, but on April 3, TES made the deal official.
As JackeyLove joined TES late, he played only six games in total, but won all of them, including 2-0’s against FunPlus Phoenix and eStar. His return to LPL playoffs was expected with even more trepidation, especially after Team WE’s worthy showing against eStar in Round 1.
The storied AD Carry did not disappoint. In the three games TES won against WE, JackeyLove put on a 19/3/24, or 14.3 KDA, winning the MVP award for his 5/0/4 Kalista in game 2. His only rival on the Rift in terms was his teammate Knight, who won the MVP awards for Games 2 and 3 and put a total KDA of 27/3/33 across all four games, or 20.0 KDA.
To make it to the finals, JackeyLove will now have to beat his former teammates from iG in a best-of-5. IG come into the playoffs as winners of the regular season with dominant 14-2 record, their only two losses being to JD Gaming and eStar.
The match is scheduled for Sunday, April 20.
