Aggressive Mode, a European stack featuring two of the former Ad Finem players, the former NiP carry and led in battle by the CIS support Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk, took the spotlight in Group A of European qualifiers for the ESL One Los Angles Major by advancing to the playoffs alongside Team Secret.
Aggressive Mode roster from position 1 to 5:
- Oliver “Skiter” Lepko
- Duško “BoraNija” Boranijaševic
- Kharis “SkyLark” Zafeiriou
- Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk
- Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos
Looking more of an EU and CIS rejects kind of stack, Aggressive Mode had a strong start on day one, when they managed to get a draw result against OG.Seed and upset Nigma 2-0. The series against Nigma was the last one played on that day, and it showcased Skiter very eager to prove his former captain wrong. He got to play Anti Mage in game one and although he forced his team to play from behind while he was busy farming, past the 30-minute mark, when Skiter had an Aegis in his pockets and the Abyssal Blade completed, Nigma lost the entire map control. Quite the same scenario happened in game two as well, only that Skiter got to play Ursa and delivered the same perfect performance, through the entire series conceding only one kill to his opponents.
Day two brought another draw score for them, and although they still have a full series left to play against Team Secret, the Major qualifiers playoffs are already in the bag for Aggressive Mode.
At the same time, the stars didn’t align at all for Nigma. They are already eliminated from contention for a ticket to the LA Major and are in danger of losing even the Minor qualifiers slots. The TI9 runner up team is now tied in points with OG.Seed with whom they will play a best-of-one tiebreaker Tuesday, February 11 at 13:00 CET, in order to decide who will be forced to miss the entire DPC Major-Minor round and who will advance into the Minor qualifiers battle.
