An all-women esports tournament is on its way to the Philippines to raise money for COVID-19 programs thanks to Smart Communications. The country’s top wireless provider is partnering with Eplayment Entertainment to host the event titled “Liga Adarna: Laban Para Sa Korona” which will have plenty of Philippine peso’s up for grabs.

Female players will be able to compete in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, DOTA 2, and VALORANT. MLBB will have P100,000 ($2,053) up for grabs while DOTA 2 and VALORANT will have P20,000 ($410) each.

“These are exciting times not only for women in esports, but for women in sports in general,” said Eplayment director Patricia Gregorio.

This is the second year for Liga Adarna which was launched to help raise inclusivity amongst gamers throughout the region. The first tournament held saw eight teams competing in DOTA 2 with 16 battling it out in the MLBB qualifiers.

The initiatives being chosen will also have several highlights shown throughout the event to encourage others to donate and help drive funds into the projects.
