LCL champions Vega Squadron secured an early berth into the next stage of the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational. With a 5-0 score so far in the group, Vega don’t even need to play their match against MEGA — they’re through and are sure to play Flash Wolves next.

Vega locked their top spot in a match against Japan’s DetonatioN FocusMe. In a 25-minute tour de force, the CIS squad trampled the LJL champions with flawless performances from top laner Vladislav “BOSS” Fomin and mid laner Lev “Nomanz” Yakshin. They way they’ve been performing, it’s also very likely that Vega exit the group undefeated 6-0, given Vega’s last match against MEGA earlier today ended with a 11K lead for the CIS team, despite a good showing from MEGA’s bot lane duo.

That said, Vega Squadron will likely have the most difficult time getting to the main event. All they have to do is avoid a 4th place in the Play-in Knockout stage, but that’s easier said that done, given the other three teams are Team Liquid, Phong Vu Buffalo, and Flash Wolves. TL and FW come from traditionally strong leagues — or at least stronger than the LCL — while Phong Vu Buffalo have been performing excellently in front of their home crowd.
