MSI runner-ups Kingzone DragonX have signed former ES Sharks player Yoo “Naehyun” Nae-hyun to their mid lane, Fomos.kr reports. Naehyun will play back-up to starting mid lane star Heo “PawN” Won-seok and is the first time he’ll be competing on the biggest domestic stage.
Naehyun’s career has taken him through all sorts of trials and tribulations. In 2014, he started competing with the Korean Mook.S in the Challengers circuit of NLB Summer before moving to China in 2016. There, Naehyun competed for Team Kung Fu, but ended the season on a 2-24 record, faced relegation and switched regions once again, this time to Europe.
For one split, Naehyun was the starting mid laner for Origen during their worst split in history. Origen finished the regular season without a single victory (0-13), failed to pass the Summer Promotion and got relegated down to the EU Challenger Series.
After Origen released their entire roster in 2017, Naehyun bunny-hopped through multiple teams, never staying for more than a split. He stayed in Turkey between May 2017 and July 2018, playing for Crew e-Sports (later YouthCrew) and then Beşiktaş Esports before finally returning to Korea as part of ES Sharks.
His signing to KingZone represents Yaehyun’s biggest opportunity to finally have a real break-out. Although they missed Worlds 2018, KingZone did win the 2018 Spring Playoffs and finished second behind Gen.G in the Korea Regional Finals.
