The LCS Spring Season ended Monday night with a set of tiebreakers which finalized the league play standings. With that, the playoff pairings were drawn and the race for the championship is to begin April 4.
In a battle for the sixth and final spot, Golden Guardians completed their journey from a struggling team to a playoffs contender. Without any LCS super stars, Golden Guardians edged out not only Team Liquid’s stacked team in the rankings, but also denied Dignitas their playoffs spot in a direct tiebreaker last night. Bot laner Victor “FBI” Huang showed big for his team, finishing 8/2/5 on Varus and becoming the deciding factor in a this close, 46-minute long game.
While Dignitas found several good initiations in the mid game, their faith was sealed at the much dreaded by the organization spot: the Baron pit.
In the other tiebreaker, Evil Geniuses topped 100 Thieves and FlyQuest, avoiding a dangerous face-off against Cloud9 in the first round of the playoffs. EG will play FlyQuest in winners bracket semifinals, leaving Cloud9 to spar with 100 Thieves in the opening match.
The LCS Spring Split grand final is scheduled for April 19, the same day as the LEC one.
