Team SoloMid announced Monday that Jonathan “Grig” Armao will return to TSM’s starting roster for the LCS Summer Split. Grig was supposed to be TSM’s starting jungler for the Spring Split too, but wrist pains barred him from the stage and sent him to physical therapy, leaving for Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham to fill the spot.
“After consistent physical therapy, Grig’s wrist seemed to be in shape for him to practice, but it was late into the season and Akaadian had integrated well into our current structure that we decided it would be best for Grig to finish off the split in Academy and for Akaadian to be our primary jungler for the remainder of Spring,” TSM wrote.
Grig has been a part of the TSM org since 2017, switching between the main and academy roster multiple times. He played the entire 2018 year on the main roster, helping TSM to a bronze in the Summer Playoffs and then barely missing Worlds, losing to Cloud9 in the LCS Gauntlet finals.
Moving into the LCS Summer Split, Grig will split jungle time with Akaadian, as the team tries to improve on their result from spring and make it to Worlds. The winningest franchise in LCS history missed MSI 2019 by an inch after they were reverse-swept by Team Liquid in the spring split grand final.
