FunPlus Phoenix captain and mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang spoke on stream about which champions his team will select to receive the traditional world championship skins. And while most of them would be expected by the fans, the fifth one — the mid lane one — isn’t.

The five skins are: Gangplank, Lee Sin, Malphite, Vayne, and Thresh.

Yes, you read that correctly. Malphite is getting a Worlds skin, despite being played only four times in the four major leagues in the entire 2019. According to Doinb, the reason Malphite will receive such honor is because it’s the one champion his wife can play.

The other choices are fairly obvious. Gangplank has been one of Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem’s best champions, and he went 5-1 on him during Worlds 2019. Same goes for Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang’s Lee Sin, a champion he played in all three games against G2 Esports in the Worlds grand final; and for Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song’s Thresh, on whom he went 4-0 during Worlds. In fact, those three players had locked their skin choices early, as mentioned by them in post-Worlds interviews.

When it comes to Lin “Lwx” Wei-Xiang, the bot laner was initially split between Kai’Sa and Vayne, but it seems his mind is now set on the latter.

These all sounds like exciting choices, though do not expect them to come soon: we’ll likely have to wait until springtime to buy them.
