Worlds 2019 quarterfinalists DAMWON Gaming will keep their same roster into the 2020 season, it being:
|Top||Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon|
|Jungle||Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu|
|Mid||Heo “ShowMaker” Su|
|Bot||Sin “Nuclear” Jeong-hyeon|
|Support||Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee|
“I was preparing to announce the news later on, but because the transfer market was heating up, there were a lot of people around me who were worried,” said DAMWON Gaming director Kim Mok-kyung.
Keeping the same roster is perhaps the right call for DAMWON. Even though they couldn’t go past the quarterfinal stage of Worlds 2019, DWG were a team who proved they have the raw talent to win championships, but lack the experience. Keeping the same five for another year at least could mean more promising results at Worlds 2020.
This also makes DAMWON the only one of LCK’s top three to not go through tumultuous roster changes. While they’ve lost head coach Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo to SK Telecom, they at least aren’t in roster free-fall like Griffin or lost key members like SKT did, who parted ways with Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, Kim “Clid” Tae-min and Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun.
