Last week, we wrote how no one can stop G2 Esports in the LEC. One weekend later, nothing’s changed.

The “samurai” were flawless yet another week in the LEC and sprinted to an 8-0 record in the league. G2 defeated current #2 in the rankings Team Vitality, as well as their old rivals of the struggling Fnatic.

Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski was the star player this weekend, winning two MVP nominations for his stellar jungling. Jankos went a combined 10/0/17 on Karthus and Olaf and tied teammate Rasmus “Caps” Winther, Vitality’s Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro, SK’s Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek and Schalke’s Elias “Upset” Lipp at the top of the MVP leaderboards.

G2’s win over Fnatic was particularly significant, as for the past six splits the EU LCS trophy has only belonged to either one of them. Fnatic were the ones to stop G2’s four-in-a-row streak, went on to win both splits in 2018 and even make Worlds finals.

Nowadays, however, the black and orange jerseys are in trouble. They are 2-6 currently and have only managed to beat other bottom-table teams like Excel and Rogue. Their match against G2 were a chance to prove they still got the magic and take revenge on their rivals, but the game ended in a massive flop for Fnatic. Lasting only 20 minutes, it was the fastest game of the season yet and ended with 16-4 in kills and with 14k gold lead for G2.

Next week, G2 are making a visit to the middle of the table as they play Misfits Gaming and Origen and pundits are expecting their lead to increase to 10-0.
