Lee “Heart” Gwan-hyung surprised many fans of the LoL Pro League with his departure announcement, but now his destination is known. Heart will be joining EDward Gaming for the 2019 campaign. Heart has coached since 2015, starting out with LGD Gaming, eventually joining Royal Never Give Up in March of 2017.

EDward Gaming recently parted ways with longtime coach Jeong “NoFe” No-chul, leaving a significant gap in the coaching position. After the departure, EDG coach Ji “Aaron” Xing quickly hinted that they would soon hire a new coach. Aaron has coached EDG since 2014, but EDG has enlisted Korean help in the coaching staff since 2015. Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu first coached the team in 2015, followed by Jung “Rapidstar” Min-sung in 2016. NoFe had served as the team’s coach since then.
Moving forward, Heart will be EDG’s fourth Korean coach since 2015. With Royal Never Give Up, he won two LoL Pro League titles, the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational, and two Demacia Cups. EDG will be looking at achieving the same volume of success with their new coach as player announcements follow in the coming weeks.
