Back in late January, the first signs of the T1 roster being confirmed were seen but it was only earlier today that the complete roster along with coaches and support staff was announced – with some rather big names joining in.

T1 effectively registered their team officially at the end of January 2020, just prior to the ESL One Los Angeles qualifiers kicking off. However, just a short time ago the team made another announcement, which confirmed their unchanged roster as well as the support staff who would be joining the squad. The team, as mentioned above, is unchanged from their recent qualifier attempts but a host of new and famous names have been confirmed such as Pyo ‘MP’ No-a and Nicholas ‘xFreedom’ Kelvin Ileto Lim.

MP, also known as MentalProtector, has had a long career in Dota 2, playing alongside the likes of MVP HOT6ix, MVP Phoenix, Immortals, Fnatic and Team Secret. While having been inactive for some time, MP joins T1 as one of two coaches, with the other being another well-known player, xFreedom. Having played alongside the likes of Jonathan ‘Loda’ Berg, Benedict Lim ‘Hyhy’ Hang Yong and Daryl Koh ‘iceiceice’ Pei Xiang at Team Zenith back at The International 2012, the player has since moved on to coaching roles in the SEA region.

The team also announced that Choi ‘cCarter’ Byoung-hoon would be joining as the Head Coach, while Hyujin ‘Xyun’ Choi would be joining the team as a Tactical Analyst. For those who may not know, cCarter has been a part of the SK Telecom T1, one of the most prolific teams in League of Legends Worlds for many years. Having won the Worlds title with SKT in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and with a second place finish in 2017, cCarter is extremely well-versed in taking teams into the championship position.

The next time we will see this T1 roster in action will be in mid-March when they will participate at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Jakarta Qualifier, where they will be fighting against the likes of Team Oracle, Tyrants Uprising and Boom Esports in hopes of reaching the April 2020 event.

  • Lee ‘Forev’ Sang-don
  • Tri ‘Jhocam’ Kuncoro
  • Yixuan ‘Xuan’ Guo

It will be interesting to see what the likes of cCarter, MP and xFreedom can do to assist this T1 roster and if they will be able to finally break into the Dota 2 Pro Circuit in the SEA region.
