According to ESPN, Immortals are very close to completing their League of Legends roster for the 2020 season. Jacob Wolf reports, that the team is finalizing the acquisition of top laner Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, bot laner Johnny “Altec” Ru, and support Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent.
If the transfer is approved, Immortals will have a stacked line-up on both talent and experience. The org has already signed Jake “Xmithie” Puchero (ex-Liquid) to the jungle and looks to build up from there. Both sOAZ and Altec are one of the most experienced players in their positions. sOAZ’s career dates back to the earliest days of League of Legends. He’s been to five World Championships (four with Fnatic, one with Origen), of which two semifinal and one grand final finishes.
Altec goes almost as far back too, being a veteran of the LCS scene and having played for most of the major organizations ijn the region, including Team SoloMid, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, Dignitas and, most recently, Echo Fox. Joining Immortals would mean Altec’s return to active play, after he’s been in free agency since July 2018 when he left Echo Fox.
Of the four players set to join Immortals, Hakuho has the least amount of LCS experience, but already has put on some decent results, including two playoffs appearances in 2017 Summer with EnVy and 2018 Spring with Clutch Gaming.
Given these reports, Immortals are not looking to keep the player assets they acquired with the buy-out of the OpTic Gaming brand and its LCS slot. Lee “Crown” Min-ho has already been transferred to Counter Logic Gaming, and with Altec and Xmithie coming in, jungler Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett and bot laner Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon will also likely be transferred away.
