Yesterday Cloud9 announced the official arrival of Swede Maikil “Golden” Selim in his squad. The latter had been a stand-in for the North American team since mid-July. He played in the ELEAGUE Premier 2018 tournament, C9 finishing last in their group after losing to Astralis and MIBR.
With his signature, the question that remains is what happens to Martin “STYKO” Styk?
The Slovak has also been a stand-in for C9 since ESL One Cologne 2018. If his presence at the FACEIT Major with Cloud9 is pretty much known, sources told us that it’s planned for him to stay until the BLAST Pro Series Istanbul, which will take place from 28 to 29 September.
It is only after the Major and the BLAST tournament that Cloud9 will re-evaluate the situation and make a decision about the future of its roster. A logical timing given that each after-major is very hectic. Based on reports coming in, there is no doubt that after-Major will also be conducive to some interesting changes.
Cloud9 should therefore remain with this lineup until the end of September:
Timothy “autimatic” Ta
Will “RUSH” Wierzba
Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham
Maikil “Golden” Selim
Martin “STYKO” Styk (stand-in)
