Drodo Studio is the very first developer to have introduced the autobattler genre to the gaming world when they created the Dota 2 arcade mod “ Dota Auto Chess.” Their game skyrocketed from zero to nearly nine million users in a couple of months and caught the interest of a few big companies.
Only this month Valve and Riot announced and even launched their own versions of Dota Auto Chess, while Drodo themselves were the first to port the game on mobile devices. Their PC version is announced to be developed with Epic Store and while they gave no timeframe for the launch, today, June 21, 2019, Drodo is once again taking a step further by announcing a one million dollars tournament for Auto Chess.
Auto Chess invitational will be organized with ImbaTV and Dragonest Networks (Drodo’s mobile game publisher) and it will be held in October in Shanghai, China. The announcement implies that the tournament will be held on a PC version, although for now, Drodo have published only the mobile game.
Although the tournament is an invitational type, players around the world will be able to participate in regional qualifiers which will take place in “early August.” The organizers will keep a few slots in the event for a few star players,” but no other details were released.
Until more info will come to light, those who want to start a professional career in the new autobattler genre should start practicing for the $1,000,000 first Auto Chess Invitational.
