If you missed it, you missed a match that will go down as one of the best. The ESL Pro League best-of-five grand final between Liquid and G2 delivered and then some. The match was won by the North Americans but G2 put up quite a performance for the home crowd and certainly gave them something worth hanging their hat on against the worlds best team.

While the series didn’t go to a fifth map, it certainly felt like it as the fourth map went into triple overtime. The second overtime of the series as Liquid picked up dust2 19-15 before demolishing G2 on Overpass. Nuke was won by the Frenchmen though of course, forcing the fourth and final map.

Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken put on stellar performances and +17 and +28 kill-to-death ratio respectively. Twistzz also managed several very key clutch rounds to help the team grab Inferno and close it out 3-1.

On the flipside, Kenny “kennyS” Schrub and Richard “shox” Papillon showed us just what they’re capable of just in case you’ve forgotten why these two have been so revered. In a 3-1 defeat including a 16-3 clobbering, kennyS and shox managed to go positive at +7 and +2.

Liquid is now just one event away from claiming the Intel Grand Slam and adding an extra $1 million to their winnings. They’ll get that opportunity at ESL One Cologne and then six other events should they need them.
