As we get closer and closer to the pinnacle of Dota 2 tournaments, The International, we take a look back at how the season unfolded and what are the main notable things of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit.

In today’s DPC rewind series we make a pit stop in Split, Croatia, at the second to last Minor tournament of the season. OGA Dota PIT featured a very different format from all the Minors on the Pro Circuit and triggered a lot of debate in the Dota 2 community. The tournament ran a three days group stage with best-of-three games, but the final standings had no impact on the playoffs seeding.

With nothing on the line, the teams indulged themselves in testing as many strategies as they wished and the viewers were delighted to witness a handful of upsets through the first few days of matches. This was also the first LAN of the year for the Chinese legend Luo “Ferrari_430” Feichi, who came out from his retirement to join EHOME for the last sprint through the competitive season.

EHOME’s group stage run was shaky and although all the teams started the playoffs in the upper bracket, the Chinese still lost the first series and were forced to a merciless best-of-one lower bracket survival week. Headed into the playoffs, EHOME found the momentum and crushed everyone on their path to the grand finals, where they played versus Ninjas in Pyjamas and delivered a breathtaking series.

The grand finals in Split went all the way up to a game five and there were two players who stood out and deserve all the credits for the insane series that sent NiP to the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major. For EHOME it was their support Zhao “XinQ” Zixing on a Rubick that basically gave EHOME another shot at claiming the trophy by forcing game five. On the NiP side, while Martin “Saksa” Sazdov outshined everyone with his Lion, in the grand finals it was Adrian “Fata” Trinks who got to set the tempo on mobile and ganking oriented mid lane heroes to secure NiP a spot at the Major that followed the OGA Dota PIT Minor.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of the 2019-2019 DPC season, where we recount the highlights of the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major.
