Direct invites for Katowice 2019 are rolling out thick and fast with 2 more teams now confirmed for the event amidst all the drama in the Dota 2 scene – and one final direct invite left to be seen.

The Dota 2 world have been flush with a ton of drama in recent weeks, but all that counts for naught to ESL One as they continued to roll out their direct invites to Katowice 2019. Today two more teams joined the elite ranks of the tournament, the first of which being Alliance. While the Alliance team is definitely far from the TI3 winning roster we loved to watch take victory, they have shown amazing skill and valiance recently in the Chongqing Major Qualifiers. The team were able to knock the current International champions, OG, out of the Major qualifiers, before they qualified for the event – even showing off a Pudge as they went down in what was merely a seeding series to Team Liquid.

Team Aster were the next invite, and the first Chinese team, to be confirmed for Katowice. The recently formed Chinese Squad which features some of the best names in the game have been able to prove their prowess in the latest Chongqing Major Qualifier. Taking down Vici Gaming to claim the top seed for the region was no easy task but Aster were up to the challenge, beating out their opponents and the likes of PSG.LGD to the top spot for China.

With these two invites, there remains only one direct invite in the bag before the four other teams join from regional qualifiers. ESL One Katowice takes place from February 19th-24th of 2019 and will come to us for the final 3 days from Spodek Arena in Poland. The 12 teams will be fighting for their share of the $300,000 spoils – and currently the full list of teams is:

  • Team Secret
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • OG
  • paiN Gaming
  • Fnatic
  • Alliance
  • Team Aster
