First elimination matches day at the Bucharest Minor went all good for Ninjas in Pyjamas. The Europeans struggled to find footing during the group stage with the only series won there being against the North Americans from Team Team. Therefore, NiP started their Minor playoff journey in the lower bracket, where each series is with elimination on the line.

A tournament victory this weekend in Bucharest is extremely important for any team attending as, besides the prize money, the win brings with it the last ticket to the Chongqing Major. At the beginning of the event both NiP and OG were without a doubt the favorites, however, both teams are now in the lower bracket and tomorrow, January 12, is the day when one will go home.

In the first part of today’s matches, OG couldn’t take revenge over Gambit Esports and with the 0-2 loss registered today, the TI8 Champions mark five consecutive losses to the Russian team. NiP, on the other hand, won their first lower bracket round which was held against the Peruvian team Playmakers Esports. The pretty one-sided victory gives them another shot at staying alive in the tournament while for Playmakers, a team which formed less than a month ago, this is the end of their run in the event. The Bucharest Minor was their first LAN together and for some of their players this also was their first LAN ever. So, although the loss is for sure bitter, the overall experience should only help them going further in the Dota Pro Circuit season.

January 12 will witness another two teams getting eliminated from the Bucharest Minor, but also the first team to reach the grand finals.
