After Team Secret secured a 2-0 victory over Natus Vincere, we were hoping to finally witness a full three-game series in the WePlay! Pushka League playoffs as Ninjas in Pyjamas would battle against Virtus.pro Prodigy for a spot in the upper bracket finals.

VP.Prodigy had already surprised everyone when they performed amazingly in the group stages of the event, recording wins over the likes of HellRaisers and Natus Vincere and finishing in the top half of the CIS bracket too. However, their opponents would be a team that were at the top of their game currently – the ex-Chicken Fighters squad of Ninjas in Pyjamas and both teams had everything to play for in the first upper bracket semi-final of the WePlay! Pushka League.

Rostislav ‘fn’ Lozovoi has a stand-in position on VP.P for the time being, but the player has definitely shown exactly why he is well-known in the CIS region and globally too at this event – and even more so today. VP.P wasted no time in showing NiP exactly why they were quickly becoming favourites in the tournament as fn’s Dragon Knight went 15-0-10 in the first game of the series. NiP only managed to claim a total of 10 kills in the 36-minute period and were given no chance at making a comeback at all.

Going into the next game, NiP seemed to have a better foothold in the opening period and even had a small advantage prior to the 15-minute mark, but from then on it was all downhill. Once again it was fn who was dominant with a 9-1-17 Razor which ripped through the NiP lineup and forced out the GG call in just a little longer than the first game.

With that, NiP would fall into the lower bracket where they would face Virtus.pro tomorrow in an elimination series, while VP.P become the first team to make it into the upper bracket finals. WePlay! Pushka League kicks off again tomorrow with the lower bracket matchup between Na’Vi and Alliance to start the day.
