Yesterday we had news on drama in the CIS region as Bakyt ‘Zayac’ Emilzhanov’s departure from Natus Vincere caused a stir and now Virtus.pro have confirmed his addition to their squad.

After another exceedingly poor showing at a Dota 2 Pro Circuit event, Virtus.pro were clearly in need of some changes to their roster. Although the team had registered decent results in the late stages of 2019 in non-DPC events, DreamLeague Season 13 saw them slump into last place, unable to win a single game. Now it seems as though two players on the team have been benched as new additions come through onto the roster for the upcoming ESL One Los Angeles qualifiers.

Confirmed via their Twitter account and with a post on their website earlier today, VP welcomed Zayac and Zaur ‘Cooman’ Shakhmurzaev onto their roster. As seen in yesterday’s news and video from the Na’Vi camp, Zayac’s move seemed to be sudden and send waves of drama through the CIS region as he jumped ship to VP. Cooman’s addition to the squad will be as a stand-in, for now as nothing has been set in stone yet. VP General Manager, Sergey Grazmazda had the following to say on the new additions to the team’s Dota 2 roster,

“The Leipzig Major showed us that the former roster’s effectiveness was insufficient to reach the goals set before the team. If we want to be successful in this season, we have to adapt no matter the effort. I am excited to welcome Bakyt and Zaur under the Virtus.pro tag. Their experience and skills will help the club reclaim its lost standings.”

A video discussing the Zayac situation was also released by VP and is linked below – however, at time of writing, the video had no English subtitles available.

The full new VP roster is:

  • Zaur ‘Cooman’ Shakhmurzaev
  • Vladimir ‘No[o]ne’ Minenko
  • Roman ‘Resolut1on’ Fominok
  • Bakyt ‘Zayac’ Emilzhanov
  • Alexei ‘Solo’ Berezin

For Egor ‘epileptick1d’ Grigorenko and Vitalie ‘Save-‘ Melnic, they will remain inactive on the VP roster for now, with news on then coming at a later time according to the post. It will be interesting to see what VP can do with Zayac, who definitely proved to be a great captain and player alongside Na’Vi – and with just a short time until the qualifiers kick off, we’re sure to get some heated action in the CIS scene.
