EPICENTER had reached its climax with the grand finals of Team Liquid versus Vici Gaming as both teams battled for the title of champions of the Moscow Major.

Starting of the day would be the lower bracket finals which saw Liquid taking on in an epic series for a spot in the grand final. While VP had a massive home ground advantage, it was Liquid who came out on top, taking a fantastic 2-0 as they sent VP home from the event. On the plus side for VP, due to an amazing run through the Dota 2 Pro Circuit, they were already secured for The International 2019 – and their new lineup seemed to be ready to contest for everything.

Team Liquid were well known for their dominance at EPICENTER events and the opening game of the series was nothing short of Liquid brilliance. While it lasted for 42-minutes, the Amer ‘Miracle’ Al-Barkawi Anti Mage was not something that VG could deal with and Liquid grabbed the first game of the series. But, being Major champions, Vici Gaming were ready to fight and the next game tied the series. While Liquid fought hard, VG’s lineup never allowed them any opening into the game and the fight for the Major championship would continue.

On the back of their win, Vici seemed to be a completely reborn squad as they took the next game of the series too. The game was not an easy one for the Chinese squad, but once they found their opening, they took control and moved into a series point – the next game of the best-of-five could decide everything at EPICENTER.

With their backs against the wall, Liquid looked to the late game for their comeback – but VG were not having any of it as they searched for their second Major win of the season. The Chinese squad were quick to get a hold of the game and it seemed as though it was all about to be over. However, that was definitely not the case as Liquid fought back to change everything and even though VG had a fantastic lead, they had to call GG as Liquid ran them over to secure a decisive game five of the series.

With a final game to decide the victor of the final Major of the season, Liquid were hopeful to reverse the series after their amazing game four. But Vici Gaming were more than on top of their game as their lineup was just far too much for Liquid to handle. The once TI champions fell apart at the seams and at every turn, VG destroyed them.

With no way back into the game, Liquid had no choice but to surrender the victory to Liquid as Vici Gaming claimed the spoils.

A 3-2 victory gives Vici Gaming an amazing win at the EPICENTER Major, taking down everyone in their path as they claim their second Major of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit Season. VG will definitely be a massive contender at TI9 and we look forward to see them in action in Shanghai in just a few weeks.
