Group stages at the ESL One Los Angeles regional qualifiers for Southeast Asia came to an end today, as we now have four teams will fight tomorrow for one of three available spots at the next Major in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit – but TNC Predator are not one of them.
Yesterday we saw some teams struggle to find their footing as the closed qualifiers for ESL One LA got underway for the SEA region. One of these teams was TNC Predator, victors of the MDL Chengdu – but since that brilliance, they have been battling to make their mark once more. With two tied series, the team were sitting in a precarious spot in Group A, which was only made worse when Team Adroit beat them in their first series of day two.
Things did not get better for TNC as they would be unable to make it to the top two in the group and thus their Major hopes were severely diminished.
Team Adroit and IO Dota 2 were able to easily top Group A, with IO managing to take a game off Adroit at the final hurdle to push them into second place and give them a shot at reaching the Major. Tomorrow we will see RR and TNC fighting for third place in the group, which will send one of these two teams directly into the StarLadder ImbaTV Season 3 Minor. Unfortunately for Neon Esports, they would be the team eliminated from the group stages today.
For Group B, Geek Fam continued their brilliant form from yesterday and even with a tied series against Fnatic, they would dominate the group. Fnatic looked extremely promising too, all the way up until their final game of the group stages where BOOM Esports destroyed them – but they would still claim second place in Group B. Thanks to their tied series with Fnatic, BOOM were able to pull themselves above the three-way tiebreaker and claim their spot in the Minor qualifier. For Cignal Ultra and Lowkey Esports, they will have to fight to avoid elimination and for a chance to make it to the Minor too.
Tomorrow we will find out which of the four teams; Adroit, Fnatic, Geek Fam and IO, will be able to claim the three spots available for SEA at the ESL One Los Angeles Major and which four teams will be going through to fight for the one spot available at the Minor for the region. Closed qualifiers continue throughout the day for all regions except China, with Europe and CIS currently ongoing.
