Another day of Beyond Epic: Europe & CIS has come to an end, with one team already seeing elimination from the event and two confirmed to be moving on into the upper bracket of group stages.
Both Team Liquid and FlyToMoon would play their final group stage series today at Beyond Epic: EU & CIS, with the former being unbeaten and sitting pretty at the top of Group B, with FTM close behind. However, in the first series we would see Team Empire fighting FTM in a full three-game series. Unfortunately for Empire, even after giving it their all, FTM were able to take two of the games in under half an hour, securing their spot atop the group – with Liquid still to play.
Starting their Beyond Epic campaign today would be Team Secret, who are on a massive streak of 3-0 victories in grand finals of online events. Their opponent would be Team Unique, who would have an incredibly tough time finding their first victory of the event in their last series – and it showed. In the 24-minute first game, Unique could only muster a total of 6 kills before throwing in the towel and things never really got much better moving forward either. Secret were able to take a fantastic 2-0 victory and, unfortunately for Unique, they would be the first team eliminated from the event, with only a single point in Group A.
Closing out the day we saw Virtus.pro again, having struggled to find any sort of form yesterday, taking on the unbeaten Team Liquid. Whether they had finally found their footing or Liquid were failing to really get a foothold, VP managed to rip through their opponents and claim their first victory in the event. There were very few, if any, high points to Liquid’s performance, but thankfully for them their previous series wins had secured them second place in Group B, going into the playoff stage.
Only two days of group stage action remain for Beyond Epic: EU & CIS, with Secret playing four series over the final days – including matchups against OG, Team Nigma and B8.
