Closing out the first day of the Weplay! Pushka League playoffs would be a monumental battle between Virtus.pro and Team Liquid – with the losing squad having to fight for their tournament lives tomorrow.

After two losses in their first two series, Team Liquid seemed to suddenly find their footing, something we had not seen from in quite some time, as they managed to beat Team Secret, Nigma, OG and OG.Seed in their next four series of the group stages at WePlay! Pushka League. The team seemed almost unstoppable at times and going into their first playoff series, things would remain as difficult for them with Virtus.pro being their opponent. Fresh off their ESL One Los Angeles Online victory, VP had some struggles in the group stages, but when it came down to it, they pushed through and looked to add another tournament to their tally.

As expected from these two giants who were looking to return to their best possible form, the first game was an extremely intense brawl. While Liquid controlled nearly everything across the board, pulling away with a sizeable net worth lead – but VP’s refusal to give up begun to pay off as Igor ‘ILTW’ Filatov’s Terrorblade found some much needed farm. But Liquid were more than equal to the challenge, fighting into a Divine Rapier and still managing to claim the victory.

With their advantage, Liquid were now in their stride as they completely pummeled the VP lineup, never letting the CIS squad even think about finding decent positions for team fights. VP were only able to muster a total of nine kills through the game and were never in contention of tying the series as they dropped to the lower bracket.

WePlay! Pushka League returns tomorrow with Natus Vincere taking on Team Secret before we see who becomes the first team eliminated from the event as VP will fight HellRaisers.
