DreamLeague Season 12 has been giving us some fantastic Dota 2 action over the weekend and today we witnessed the elimination of three teams in the lower bracket of the event – and one team that surprised everyone.
After Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance dominated their respective groups on the first day of the event, four teams were pushed into the lower bracket, where they would have to fight to avoid elimination. The day opened with Team Liquid taking on FlyToMoon and while yesterday was a day of flawless victories, today would be filled with full three-game series. After dropping the first game, Liquid managed to barely hold on and come back to turn the series around and move on to the next round, sending the CIS squad home as the first eliminated team.
Following this would be something that could be seen as a big upset when J.Storm took on Demon Slayers. Even with upcoming Major aspirations, J.Storm were only able to win the first game before the unlikely challengers of DS would make a comeback and take the series. With that, J.Storm would end up as the second team eliminated from DreamLeague Season 12 as Demon Slayers moved on to face Liquid.
Amazingly, the rag-tag North American squad was able to knock out another team who had a Major to look forward to. It seemed as though the ex-Alliance squad were completely unable to find their footing as DS walked all over them in two quick games and a excessively destructive Guilherme Silva ‘Costabile’ Costábile Chaos Knight too. Unfortunately for Liquid, their run would be over while Demon Slayers continued to write themselves an underdog story at DreamLeague Season 12.
Tomorrow will be the last day of the event with Demon Slayers opening the day against either Alliance or NiP before the grand final gets underway following that. With only three teams now left in the running, tomorrow is definitely going to be packed with Dota 2 action at DreamLeague Season 12.
