There have been a lot of rumours revolving around Team Aster in the past few days, especially regarding Pan ‘Fade’ Yi, who initially announced he would retire after TI9 but was in the news regarding joining Team Aster (now being called ‘Team Aster Stars’). VPEports also reported it as a rumour based on what Xu ‘Burning’ Zhilei said on his stream. But with Team Aster’s statement on Weibo, the rumours have been confirmed. Aster’s lineup will include Fade and it looks like a strong one.
Newbee’s old midlaner, Song ‘Sccc’ Chun will definitely be playing mid and Chyuan the youngster will be playing the carry role. While playing for Invictus Gaming, Xxs played offlane, which is what he most probably will do here as well. The big question is, who will be playing the position 4 role – Fade or Boboka? Fade was definitely one of the best position 4 players of the 2018-2019 season, but Boboka also made a name for himself in the same position in the 2016-2017 season. It will be interesting to see who takes the position 5 role in this team.
Even though the roles aren’t decided, this team has an insane amount of potential. The only relatively unknown entity is Chyuan, but if the team management trusts he can be a part of this start studded team, there must be something in him.
The Chinese scene isn’t what it was two tears ago. Last season, only two Chinese teams, PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming, could compete against the other top dogs of Dota 2. Chinese Dota 2 needs a few more big teams to mount a challenge at the Majors and at TI10 and Team Aster Stars might just be one of them.
