Four Peruvian teams made their way to the $205,000 South America Regional League Upper Division, where they joined other four directly invited squads. Eight other rosters secured a spot into the Lower Division and will fight through the first season of DPC for promotion.
Omega Gaming and Team Unknown were the first to grab Upper Division slots, the former sailing through the single round-robin group stage matches with a clean score of 7-0, while the latter finished second with an overall game score of 6-1.
EgoBoys and Latam Defenders, who placed fifth and sixth respectively in the group run, recovered in the qualifiers playoff bracket to start the 2021 DPC from the Upper Division.
The Peruvian teams are dominating the Lower Division as well, with a total of six squads from the country securing a spot here, while Brazil has only two representatives. The Lower Division will be played with $75,000 on the line. At the end of the first season, the top teams from Lower Division will be promoted to the Upper Division of Season 2.
SA Regional League is operated by OGA Dota PIT and it will unfold January 18 – February 28 with matches scheduled for both divisions on the following days of the week and hours:
