The Closed Qualifiers for The Kuala Lumpur Major are heavily underway and the China region is hotly contested with the likes of RNG, Newbee, Vici Gaming and Team Serenity being just some of the teams fighting for one of the three spots in the Major. With some teams getting a direct invite into the qualifier while others would battle through open qualifiers, everyone would be trying their hardest to make their way into the first Major of the new Dota 2 Pro Circuit Season.
With 3 spots available in the Major for CN there was no room for error, especially since both PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming were already holders of the first two spots, having secured victories in the Upper Bracket.
We’ve qualified for the KL major, can’t wait to play at my home ground with the team

The first to fall by the way side in the lower bracket were the likes of EHOME and Zhang ‘LaNm’ Zhicheng’s newly formed, DeathBringer Gaming – both eliminated in the first round of the Lower Bracket. Following this we saw Royal Never Give Up, the new team featuring the scandal-ridden Du ‘Monet’ Peng, also being eliminated as Xu ‘BurNIng’ Zhilei’s Team Aster made their way into the next round by eliminating them.
The next elimination series of the day would be between Newbee, sporting their latest additions to their squad, and the team that made a valiant run through The International 2018, Team Serenity. Serenity, still looking absolutely brilliant, took down Newbee, taking them out of the running for a spot at the Major. Serenity would go on to face off against Team Aster in the final series of the day. This final series would be for the third and final spot for the China region at the Kuala Lumpur Major.
Serenity still looked promising going into the series but Team Aster seemed to just be able to have a slight edge. While Serenity stomped the 2nd game of the series, the 1st and 3rd were just nowhere close to going in their favour and they were eliminated. With that, even though there were games left to play, only 3 teams remained in the CN qualifiers, meaning that the champions for the region heading to the KL Major were now decided.
Team Aster, PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming would be the 3 teams heading through to the upcoming event and we look forward to the start of the Major – until then, there’s still a lot of qualifiers to go through with the CIS and South American ones ongoing today.
