The final series of the day at The Chongqing Major would be one of the biggest and most intense ones to come out of the tournament this far as PSG.LGD went up against Evil Geniuses. The winning team would find themselves in the Lower Bracket final against Team Secret while the loser would be eliminated and end their run at the Major in 4th place. EG would be looking to repeat their knock-out punch on PSG.LGD from The Kuala Lumpur Major and take down a 3rd Chinese team in a row – but their opponents were no amateurs.

The first game was a bloodbath – both teams were throwing everything they had at one another and by only 10 minutes there were 19 kills across the board. Neither team had a real advantage in the game though but it was EG who were the first to pounce on a chance to take the lead when Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev’s Phantom Assassin found a Double Damage rune at the best of times.

From that point it was all EG as the North Americans never let their opponents find a way back into the game.

Game two saw EG using their momentum from the previous win to take control of everything and with a Pugna they were already pushing onto highground by 15 minutes. But suddenly the home-town-team woke up, finding the perfect fight in defense to give them a lot of control back. The game moved into a long period of back and forth fights – some going EG’s way, others going the way of PSG.LGD. There were constant brawls across the map and when the dust settled, EG were the ones to have a slight lead.

With two lanes of barracks down, it seemed as though PSG.LGD were down and out as EG marched forward to take down another Chinese team – making it a clean 4-0 against Chinese opponents at this Major.

PSG.LGD would exit The Chongqing Major, as they did at The Kuala Lumpur Major, by the hands of Evil Geniuses. The runners-up of TI8 would finish in 4th place, taking $80,000 and 1,350 DPC points. For EG though, they have a chance at glory as they enter the top 3 of the Major – their first order of business will be getting through Team Secret tomorrow as the final day of The Chongqing Major looms.
